Chris McMonigle declared Tuesday as a sad day for New York baseball, with the Mets holding a fire sale and the Yankees standing pat.
"This was a miserable day for both teams," C-Mac said. "It bothers the hell out of me. This is New York. We have two of the highest payrolls in baseball, and this is how they handle the deadline?
"I think both teams made absolutely ridiculous decisions. The Yankees, I'm sitting around all day waiting for them to do something…they had to add to this team, otherwise, what are you doing? They did absolutely nothing at the deadline. Nothing. That's what they did for a team that desperately needs something. I don't know what the hell Brian Cashman is thinking."
As for the Mets, while C-Mac says they at least showed a sense of direction, it was a direction that shouldn't happen with the richest owner in baseball who has made pledges to turn the Mets into a World Series team.
"This is New York, this is Steve Cohen," C-Mac said. "I'm sorry Mets fans, you can talk yourself into circles, and how the farm system needed to be redone, it doesn't matter. When you bring in Steve Cohen, the days of rebuilding and punting on seasons is supposed to be over."
