Shohei Ohtani underwent elbow surgery this week, and the doctor who performed the surgery says the two-way star will be ready to hit by Opening Day next year, and ready to pitch by 2025.
C-Mac says both New York teams have to set up meetings with Ohtani to try and lure him to New York in free agency this winter.
"He still is, without question, the greatest player on the free agent market, and when he does both, he is the greatest baseball player who ever lived," C-Mac said. "If you have an opportunity to sign him for just money, and you're the richest owner in baseball, why wouldn't you do it?
"This is a guy, as just a slugger, who is a 40-home run, 1.000 OPS, clutch performer. This is an absolute no-brainer for the Mets to get a lefty bat into this lineup, a power bat to slide into the DH spot, and the next year, can slide into the rotation."
Ohtani didn't take a meeting with the Yankees during his free agency after the 2017 season, but this time, if he is open to coming to the east coast, C-Mac says both teams in the Big Apple should be aggressively pursuing him.
"If he is willing to come to New York, the Yankees and Mets absolutely should be on this," C-Mac said. "If you think they shouldn't, that is absolutely outrageous."
