Carton & Roberts can't wait for their SNY simulcast

Tell your friends, in case they haven’t heard: Carton & Roberts are headed to TV, OH YEAH!

As announced at 5 p.m. Thursday on their show, Carton & Roberts will be simulcast on SNY from 4-6 p.m. on weekdays, starting in May, an announcement so big that Evan actually took his mask off in studio for the first time in months.

“You better go to the store and get some makeup there, Evan,” Craig joked as he made the announcement. “But this really does mean a lot to us, to be able to bring the show to a larger audience. We just started on Nov. 9 and haven’t even done 100 shows together, and we’re thrilled with the partnership and being able to bring the show to the next level.”

It’s a multi-year commitment that will hopefully begin on Monday, May 3, and will be the second time Craig has been simulcast, albeit this one shorter than the entire show simulcast of Boomer & Carton (which has continued to live on as Boomer & Gio).

“I’m thrilled that they think highly of our show and want to put us on,” Craig said. “In a lot of ways, it validates the content of the show, and it was a mutual decision to only do two hours.”

The guys of course had some demands if SNY upgrades the studio – like an X-Box, catering, the SNY suite at Citi Field, a trampoline, a mini-fridge, and perhaps even a one-on-one interview show for Craig – but the biggest question is this: WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO EVAN’S RED CHAIR?

“That’s up to SNY,” Craig said, to which Evan replied: “I have to pick their brain, but it’s so comfortable.”

That’s when producer Tommy Lugauer did point out one of the potential foibles of a simulcast.

“When Joe and Evan used to fill in for you and Boomer, the TV people were always flustered, because Joe and Evan were not as tall as you and Boomer,” Tommy laughed. “Evan, you have to raise your seat, you can’t on the floor.”

“Maybe I’ll put a booster on my seat!” Evan replied with a smile.

So as Evan does that, Craiggy wants Big Mac to start that NJ Diet, Tommy to start gelling his hair again and up his GTL game (since Tommy’s wife already shares her makeup with him, according to Craig), and, most importantly, you to get ready to listen to AND watch Carton & Roberts starting in May.

“We’re leading into Met coverage, but this won’t change what we do on the show,” Craig said. “We’re looking forward to this new part of our evolution, and it really does mean a lot to us to be able to get in front of as many people as possible.”

“Very, very cool,” Evan replied. “Should be a lot of fun!”
