It’s official: Carton & Roberts will begin their SNY simulcast on Monday, May 24, running from 4-6 p.m. on the cable home of the New York Mets.
“We are really excited to get going on SNY. When the cameras went in the other day on the set, that made it feel real," WFAN Brand Manager Mark Chernoff said in the official release. “Craig and Evan and I work hard to bring something new and unique to their show daily, and now with the addition of SNY and live television, we’ll they’ll be able to do even more and super serve the New York sports fan base.”
Craig & Evan made the announcement just after 4 p.m. on Monday, right around the time they will get it rolling in two weeks.
“It’s exciting for us. SNY never had the right show to do this, but for Evan and I, it’s validation that the show is good,” Craig said in making the announcement. “We know that because the ratings are good, but for another media outlet to want the content of the show, that’s very satisfying, and validating to the work we put into it and what we think of the show.”
The Carton & Roberts studio is in the process of being re-done – you can notice some of the changes as you watch our WFAN videos in the coming weeks ahead of the TV premiere – and sorry, folks, but Evan’s red chair is gone.
But the new one, Evan says, is quite comfy, and he’s working on his posture.
“Over the last two weeks, I’ve tried to sit up straight. I’m a terrible sitter because I font have simulcast experience like you do,” Evan said.
“Sometimes you have to put your arm around your little pal and give me some advice.”
“You’re doing great, but we’ll work on the clothes next,” Craig laughed.
All the laughs aside, SNY President Steve Raab told Newsday that while it’s a two-hour simulcast for now, there’s always room to add on, and Craig was pumped about it all.
“We’re gonna start with two hours and lead into Mets pregame, and we’re thrilled about this partnership,” Craig said. “Personally, I am very appreciative of what Steve had to say, and we hope it’s a lengthy relationship. We look forward to combining our strengths with theirs, and being a part of the SNY family.”
