You heard it on Carton & Roberts on Tuesday: could Craig Carton kick a field goal?
Of course, Craiggy, never one to shy away from his accomplishments, harkened back to a time in the mid-1990s when he was booting 50-yarders at Veterans Stadium while working for WIP in Philadelphia. In a rare moment of candor, Craig admitted he might not be able to hit that long of a kick these days (what 51-year-old can?), but he can “kick 30-yarders all day.”
Evan Roberts has been efforting to find an available field to test Carton’s theory, even after dear, close, personal friend Andrew Marchand called true friend of the program Sal Paolantonio to verify Craiggy’s claims of 1990s success (it was actually a 52-yarder, SalPal says, but Craig doesn’t wanna brag).
Well, perhaps effort no more, Evan, because we have visual confirmation, thanks to WFAN digital producer (and now Carton frienemy) Tom “Not Michigan State’s Head Coach” Izzo, that Craiggy could still bang 30-yarders in 2017:
That video from Jets camp shows Craig still got leg...and, apparently, some whack fashion sense:
Better than a Speedo? Eh, no one’s perfect…like, say, the actual Jets kickers.
