One confident bettor placed a $150,000 wager on the Rangers to beat the Devils in Newark on Tuesday night, with New York recently retooled after the trade deadline and rival New Jersey going nowhere fast in terms of the playoffs this season.
Well, instead of walking away with $250,000, they walked away with two losses, one by the Rangers and one courtesy of Devils Twitter.
The official Devils Twitter account, notorious for its personality and playful trolling, caught wind of the bet placed via BetMGM, and tweeted out that they heard about the bet, but added "To all those who messaged us about that person who bet $150K on the Rangers tonight asking for us to roast them…looks like their life choices did that for us already.
"Remember to bet responsibly."
The bettor's chances seemed to be off to a good start when New York jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Devils responded with five straight goals en route to a 7-4 victory, and a much lighter wallet for one unfortunate bettor.
