The Devils were overwhelmed in their season opener against the Flyers on Thursday night, souring the start of a season in which many hoped to see improvement and growth from the team's promising young core.
Instead, more of the same issues emerged in terms of the team's defense and goaltending, and it has only taken one game for frustration to settle in among some in the locker room.
"I'm just sick and tired of being on a bad team, that's the thing that stinks the most," Miles Wood told Devils reporter Amanda Stein. "Tomorrow is a must-win game for us and it's my job to get the guys going."
Saturday's home opener will be just the second game of the season, but Wood isn't wasting any time in saying it's time to start showing progress, and that this franchise is heading in the right direction as it seeks its first playoff berth in five years.
"You can't lose two and you certainly cannot lose three," Wood said. "You have to stop it now. In the past, we've let it pile up the L's and it's not OK."
