Twitter annihilated Eli Apple after he was torched multiple times by Cooper Kupp on the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI-winning drive, reminiscent of how he was called “burnt toast” earlier in the playoffs.

Well, one intrepid Wikipedia user took it all a step further: they edited Apple’s Wikipedia page to say that Kupp was his father in a quickly-removed edit:

Yes, that’s MLB Network’s Stephen Nelson on the spot, covering some NFL goodness by capturing the moment before it was erased.

Apple had a good season in Cincinnati and was solid in the Super Bowl, recording five tackles and one pass defensed, but his poor final drive all but gave the Rams their first ring since the Greatest Show on Turf won the final Super Bowl of the old millennium.

On that final drive, which saw the Rams drive 79 yards on 15 plays in 4:49, Kupp beat Apple to the edge on a fourth-and-one rush to keep the drive alive, then got Apple flagged for pass interference in the end zone on the penultimate play of the drive, giving LA a first and goal at the one and four cracks at the end zone with 1:38 left.

Kupp then beat Apple on a back-shoulder fade on second and goal to score the game-winning TD, securing himself the game MVP honors.

The star wideout, who led all receivers in catches, yards, and TD this season, had eight catches for 92 yards and two scores plus that seven-yard rush on the night – but nearly half of it came on the final drive, where he had the fourth-down rush plus four catches for 39 yards (not counting an earlier TD grab nullified by offsetting penalties) to finally make up for the second-half absence of another former Giant, Odell Beckham Jr., who exited late in the first half with a knee injury.
