Evan goes off on Yankees, Mets fans for response to Yanks' 2-0 ALCS lead: 'Ashamed of all of you'
After hearing the reaction to the Yankees taking a 2-0 series lead on the Guardians and moving as close to a pennant as they've been in seven years, Evan Roberts had a bone to pico with New York baseball fans.
First, Mets fans, who he feels are way too worried about their crosstown rivals' path to a World Series berth, when they should be worried about their own team's LCS, the first for the franchise in nine years.
"I'm ashamed of all of you," Evan said. "If I have to be the voice of reason, I'll be the voice of reason: Mets fans, shut up. The New York Yankees have nothing to do with you. The Yankees are up 2-0. I wish we were up 2-0! It doesn't matter who the opponent is, how you're playing, or how your opponent is playing. Mets fans, stop being douchey."
As for Yankee fans, Evan can't believe the amount of apologizing and minimizing he has heard about their own team rolling out to a 5-1 start to their postseason. Many point to the Royals and Guardians being far inferior opponents, representatives of an AL Central division that the Yanks owned during the regular season. Evan's response is simply, "so what?"
"Yankee fans, what happened to you?" Evan said. "Where's your arrogance? If there was ever a moment to remember who the bell you are, that moment is now. You are steamrolling the American League. I don't want to hear about how flawed the Guardians are. Who cares? We aren't doing sports talk radio in Cleveland. I'm losing my mind listening to Yankee fans, because you're not arrogant enough…this should be the time of your life!"
