After another disappointing playoff showing on Sunday, Evan says he has the comp for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
“Lamar Jackson is Joel Embiid,” Evan said.
Noting Embiid’s regular season stardom and inability to get out of the second round of the playoffs, Evan says Jackson is just like the 76ers star and former MVP, consistently dominating in the regular season before looking like a shell of himself when the lights shine the brightest.
“There is no denying the greatness of regular season Joel Embiid.
He’s won MVPs,” Evan said. “There is no denying that Joel Embiid is a great player, unique in his own way. They’re writing Hall of Fame careers.
“Joel Embiid’s team, the 76ers, have never gotten to a conference final. Never. So you look at Joel and you say, ‘That’s a great player, but…’ and that’s Lamar Jackson, for now. I think Lamar has more time to change that than Embiid, but he’s a two-time MVP…as of right now, he hasn’t gotten to the big one, like Joel Embiid.”
