There have been a lot of sports “mercenaries” that have come and gone in Evan’s life in recent years, and he doesn’t have any warm feelings toward a single one of them.
So, during Wednesday’s show, Evan decided to rank these five mercenaries in order of how much he dislikes them (from a sporting standpoint), and here’s how it shook out:
“Five future Hall of Famers, no doubt all of them, but five Hall of Famers came into my life whispering sweet nothings in my ear about winning championships,” Evan said. “And all of them are gone…gone much quicker than any of us could have expected, and all of them left with some bitterness.
“The guy I can’t stand the most is Kyrie Irving. That’s No. 1. Ruined everything. Easy. No. 2, Max Scherzer. No. 3, James Harden. That guy quit on me. No. 4, this is where it gets tricky. No. 4, in terms of hate, Kevin Durant. He gets the edge over Verlander because at the end of the day, he didn’t have to ask for the trade. And No. 5, the guy who gets off the cleanest, the guy I dislike the least right now, is Justin Verlander.”
There you have it, the Nets failed superteam and the Mets’ failed co-aces. Now, Evan can only hope a future Hall of Fame quarterback doesn’t wind up on this list in a couple years.
“Aaron Rodgers may be the sixth,” Evan said. “But we’re still in good position with him. He hasn’t done anything.”
