After watching the Phillies wallop the Diamondbacks in game two to move within two wins of a second straight pennant, Evan realized that Bryce Harper was far from the only star that could have, and should have, been in New York.

So, the realization called for a Cinco De Ev-O to open up Wednesday’s show, ranking the five Phillies who should be playing for either the Yankees or Mets.

Coming in at number five, Kyle Schwarber, who smacked two home runs in game two on Tuesday night.

“The Yankees could have had him three different times…that lefty slugging swing, it’s built for Yankee Stadium,” Evan said. “And oh by the way, he could have been the Mets DH instead of Daniel Vogelbach.”

At number four, J.T. Realmuto, who the Marlins shipped out during their rebuild when the Mets had a clear need at catcher.

“They opted for James McCann,” Evan said. “And by the way, the Yankees could have signed him too, but they were still in love with Gary Sanchez!”

A surprise at number three in Bryce Harper, who many would have expected to be higher given the clear Yankees fit when Harper was a free agent.

“Aaron Hicks?” Evan said. “That was the excuse??”

At number two, the Phillies ace who has been money in the postseason, and was developed by the Mets before they let him walk in free agency.

“Zack Wheeler. He was our guy,” Evan said. “He should have remained a Met.”

But the number one spot went to a Phillie who isn’t even a player, rather the man in the dugout who is on the cusp of winning his second pennant in his second season as manager.

“Rob Thomson. He was a longtime Yankee coach,” Evan said. “And when the Yankees decided to fire Joe Girardi…the very first guy they interviewed was Rob Thomson!

“This roster is littered with guys that any of us could have had…every last one of these free agents could have been Mets or Yankees, if the Mets or Yankees were willing to write the biggest checks.”
