Evan: Everything we've been told about Shohei Ohtani is 'fraudulent'

As Major League Baseball continues its investigation into Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, and whether the league’s brightest star had any involvement in gambling with an illegal bookie or lied about being stolen from, Evan sounded off on the Dodgers superstar and claimed that nearly nothing about his life away from baseball has been portrayed accurately.

“Shohei Ohtani is a fraud. Something is going on here,” Evan said. “Nothing about him is real. That’s my new conspiracy theory. I think everything about him that we’ve been told has been fraudulent. His dog is fraudulent. His marriage is fraudulent.

“I think we’re starting to get hints that Shohei Ohtani is not who we think he is. Are we gonna make a big deal about it in New York? Probably not. We’ll see where this investigation goes into his translator. But we’re starting to get bread crumbs that Shohei Ohtani is a fraud.”

As the drama still swirls regarding Ohtani’s longtime interpreter suddenly being fired, Ohtani found himself involved in more controversy when fans claimed that he and the Dodgers pressured her into giving the ball back for a return that included a couple signed hats, and Ohtani later said (via his new interpreter) that he met the fan to make the exchange. According to Sam Blum of The Athletic, and the fan herself, Ohtani never met her.

It’s more reason for Evan to declare that everything about Ohtani, aside from his undeniable baseball skill, seems like a farce.

“I’m not saying he’s not a great baseball player,” Evan said. “I’m just saying, everything about him now, I think you question.”
