In the wake of Japan’s victory over Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, Evan came up with a new playoff format for Major League Baseball that he says would make the event a global phenomenon.

Craig simply said it was the stupidest idea he ever heard.

Evan’s idea? Bring two teams from Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball Organization into the MLB playoffs.

“I think we should invite two of the best Japanese baseball teams, after their season is over, into our playoffs,” Evan said. “We have five AL teams and five NL playoff teams, we add the sixth in each league by taking the champion of each of their leagues, and we handle it.

“Let’s see how the Seibu Lions do in a best of five series against the Yankees. Bring it on.”

Craig’s response was simple.

“Are you high right now?”

Still, Evan stood by his idea.

“There’s nothing dumb about it…why the hell not? We used to have a World Series for 50 years in which the leagues had nothing to do with each other,” Evan said. “There was no such thing as interleague play. I think it’s the most brilliant idea I’ve ever come up with.

“The baseball playoffs would be highly rated throughout Japan. We’re gonna love it no matter what. If you’re a Yankee fan, whether it’s the Seibu Lions or the Astros sweeping you in the ALCS, you’re still gonna be bitter and embarrassed.”

Most baseball fans would likely share Craig’s reaction.
