Abdul Carter's jersey number for rookie minicamp camp reportedly one he will use moving forward

With Giants rookie minicamp getting underway, the team revealed what numbers their rookies will be wearing as they put on the New York blue for the first time.

Abdul Carter, the team's top draft pick and most hyped rookie talent, will be wearing No. 51, though some cautioned that it didn't mean it will be the number he will wear for good, as several players have worn numbers in rookie minicamp, only to change it up once the actual season started.

But according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the No. 51 will be Carter's official number.

Per Rapoport, Carter plans to wear 51 at rookie minicamp and moving forward, meaning the drama surrounding what number he will wear is seemingly over. Carter had stirred up some controversy after being selected third overall last month by floating the idea of unretiring Lawrence Taylor's 56 or Phil Simms' No. 11 so he could wear them, but neither came to fruition, most recently due to Simms' family voting against the idea. Carter wore No. 11 with Penn State.

Instead, Carter will wear a combination of the two numbers, taking the first digits from 56 and 11 to make 51.

The number 51 was most recently worn by linebacker Azeez Ojulari.
