Arvell Reese had the game of his young career in another Giants win, evening their win total from last year.
The rookie linebacker recorded three sacks in Sunday's victory over the rival Eagles, marking Big Blue's first win in Philadelphia in 13 years. The highlight sack for Reese came on a punishing blindside hit on Joe Milton III, forcing a fumble that the Giants recovered near midfield to stop an Eagles drive.
Reese came up big again midway through the fourth quarter, getting home nearly untouched and dropping Milton on a 3rd-and-10 at midfield with New York leading 16-8. The sack was his third of the game, and he finished with 12 tackles in another highlight on his Defensive Rookie of the Year resume.
Without Cam Skattebo, the Giants run game struggled to generate much offense, and J.J. McCarthy briefly left with a hip injury and was questionable to return. He did return to the game, but before he did, Jameis Winston led a 14-play, 76-yard drive that ate up nearly eight minutes of clock, culminating in a five-yard touchdown to Isaiah Likely, the only time in the afternoon that New York found the end zone. The score put Big Blue ahead 13-8, a lead they never relinquished.
A desperation drive for the shorthanded Eagles came up short when, fittingly, Milton was sacked on 4th-and-2 from their own 44, the Giants' seventh sack of the game.
New York improves to 5-2-1 with a short week ahead, as they will face another division rival in the Commanders on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium.
