Boomer and Gio went over quarterbacks that have “the look” in their eye that gives you the confidence that they will come up big and put the team on their back when needed.
Patrick Mahomes is one of them. Tom Brady was one of them.
A caller then wondered if they felt Daniel Jones was one of those quarterbacks.
“Uh, no. sorry,” Boomer said, to which Gio agreed.
“There were many times after those interviews that he was just steps away going back into the locker room and we were like ‘Man, that guy is a flatliner,’” Gio said. “He just is. He doesn’t have that personality.”
Boomer pointed out that it wasn’t much different with Eli Manning, who won two Super Bowls in New York, but he was a rare exception that showed up in big games, and, very importantly, stayed healthy.
“That’s the personality the Giants wanted,” Boomer said. “When Eli was here, he was a flatliner, but now he’s one of the funniest guys on TV.
But there were different circumstances.”
