Boomer & Gio debate: Do Giants have a quarterback controversy brewing?

At halftime during Sunday’s Giants game, Boomer said on the NFL Today on CBS that Big Blue could have a quarterback controversy on its hands with the way Tyrod Taylor was playing in place of the injured Daniel Jones.

“I would just say, Tyrod Taylor, the last two games, looks like he’s reasonably stable, and at halftime, Tyrod Taylor was in the midst of having a really good game,” Boomer said. “Tyrod Taylor was good. They actually had some life on offense…Tyrod looked really good. I was thinking to myself at halftime, we got ourselves a quarterback controversy. And then…100 yards in the second half and not much.”

Boomer wasn’t as definitive about a QB controversy after that second half performance, while Gio likely wouldn’t have been even if Taylor carried over his first half production into the final 30 minutes of play.

“I think you have a great, professional backup who can win football games,” Gio said. “But he’d have to go on some crazy run for them to think about playing him over Daniel Jones.”

Still, Boomer believes Taylor has shown enough promise to warrant a conversation, and at the very least, make the Giants comfortable in sitting Jones until he is absolutely 100 percent.

“They may tell Daniel Jones to take another week,” Boomer said. “You never know.”
