Gio has heard the backlash from Evan Neal’s comments towards Giants fans, and he says many of these critics need to take a look in the mirror.
“All these sports radio hosts are killing Evan Neal for firing back at the fans for being booed, but they’ve done this their entire careers!” Gio said. “How many talk show hosts have you heard, ‘What’s this guy on Twitter, live in their mom’s basement? What does this guy do? You want to try and do what I do?’
“You all say it. So stop. Look at yourselves in the mirror, and give him a break, for God’s sake. He’s 22 years old, he said something stupid. This is a teaching moment, a learning moment, and let’s move on.”
Boomer couldn’t agree more, and while the comments were wrong and shouldn’t be condoned, there is no benefit from fixating on them and ripping on Neal, who has since apologized via social media.
“He’s a kid. He’s a freaking kid living in a social media sewer swamp of a world,” Boomer said. “We criticize, criticize, criticize because we like to be the voice of the fan. Personally, I feel bad for the kid.”
