Boomer and Gio understand that sometimes relationships can’t be mended, but they both believe the Giants are losing a good one in Wink Martindale, who reportedly resigned as defensive coordinator on Monday.
“It seemed like Wink really got the best out of his defense,” Boomer said.
Gio couldn’t agree more.
“This is not a good thing for the Giants,” Gio said. “Not that they can’t get better or stay the same next year, but I’d rather have Wink Martindale as the defensive coordinator.”
Still, if there was a rift between Martindale and Daboll as reports indicated, then it may be best for the two to divorce and move on, even if it leaves the defense in a state of uncertainty until Daboll and company decide on Martindale’s replacement.
“There was obviously a difference of opinion,” Boomer said. “There was something boiling here underneath…you never know what the internal politics and issues may be.”
