As Tommy DeVito prepares for Sunday’s game against the Saints, Boomer and Gio agree that it will be the quarterback’s toughest test yet.
And the following week will be tougher, as well as the one after that, as the league starts to catch up on the Giants sensation.
“The more games you play, the more you see, the more people see you on tape, and the more they can tailor their defense to some of the things you have shown a propensity to do on tape,” Boomer said. “They have three and a half games of tape on him…all these little things they’ll be able to figure out and try to work into their game plan and try to make his life more difficult.”
Gio still believes that DeVito can become the next Brock Purdy, but if he is to accomplish that, he will have to overcome opposing defenses beginning to key in on his tendencies, making each week harder than the last.
“It’s almost like a video game,” Gio said. “You go to the next level, and the next level is a little bit harder. It’s not the hardest one yet, where you topple whatever the monster is at the end, which is the Philadelphia Eagles. But it’s the next level up, which is playing a team in their building, in a dome, with a loud fanbase, that is in the playoff hunt and is desperate, and you have to go in there and win a game in their building.”
