Boomer: Brian Daboll will be 'all over' Daniel Jones this season
As the Giants get set to begin their season on Sunday against the Vikings, Gio posed the question to Boomer: who will Daniel Jones be in what could be the final year with Big Blue?
Boomer isn’t sure what the production will look like, but he believes Jones is going to be pushed in Brian Daboll’s third season, and will have a chance to prove himself within this offense.
“I think, with Brian Daboll calling the plays...you saw a snippet of it in the preseason game against Houston. I think he’s gonna be really aggressive, keep the pedal to the medal, and is gonna be all over Daniel Jones,” Boomer said. “I think that’s a good thing. I think that’s exactly what Daniel needs.
“I think Brian is gonna be in his grill. He’s gonna be pushing, trying to get the best out of him. He’s not gonna let him have those in-game slumps.”
Daboll famously got in Jones’ face in his first game as head coach in 2022, once that turned into a thrilling win over the Titans and kick-started the best season of Jones’ career. Boomer wouldn’t be surprised if Giants fans see more of that on the sideline in 2024.
“Some guys go through games where three or four series will be three-and-outs, and they come to the sideline at sit down, get a Gatorade, look at the tablet, put their helmet on and get back out on the field,” Boomer said. “Brian Daboll is not gonna let that happen.”
