Gio wondered aloud if Joe Schoen is going to start hearing some doubts as high draft picks like Evan Neal continue to look like busts in year two.
“The scariest thing for me, if you are the Giants,” Gio said. “Can you believe in their general manager with the way Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal are playing?”
That led Boomer into sounding off on Neal’s blown blocking assignment that went viral on Sunday, where he allowed a Dolphins edge rusher to blow by untouched, leading to one of seven sacks on the day.
“There should be no confusion whatsoever,” Boomer said. “The ball is snapped, and for whatever reason, Neal takes a step to his left, down towards the guard. Wilkins goes around him, nobody touching him, and just absolutely derails Daniel Jones…there is no explanation for why a right tackle, other than he just doesn’t know what he’s doing…I cannot explain the whiff. This is a guy who went to Alabama, who was a high pick, who probably came highly recommended by Nick Saban. How does he not know what he’s doing?
“That is so bizarre to me, that a player two years in does not know what his responsibilities are…for that to happen, in a game of this magnitude, at this point in the season, and where he is in his career, is unexplainable to me. He almost got his quarterback killed.”
