As Saquon Barkley and the Giants remain at a standstill, with Barkley seeking a new contract after being hit with the franchise tag, Big Blue is faced with a big unknown with summer approaching.

Will the offense have its top weapon from last season come Week 1?

Boomer sure hopes so, and says the Giants need to reward Barkley for all he has done and pay the man.

“I hope the Giants and Saquon come to some sort of agreement,” Boomer said. “I would hate to see him in another uniform.

“Maybe like four years, $52 million with $28 of it guaranteed. It’s really about the guaranteed money. if he signs the tag this year and next year, it’s about $23 million. You gotta get the guaranteed money higher.”

Boomer says the key will be that guaranteed money, and despite the current market for running backs in the NFL, Barkley is a special case for the Giants, and Joe Schoen needs to get something done.

“They keep telling you he’s the face of the Giants, the perfect guy for the Giants, well then pay the guy!” Boomer said. “He’s right in the middle of his prime, and he proved last year in this offense that he’s deserving of a legitimate contract with legitimate guaranteed money, regardless of what the analytics of the league says.”
