Boomer: Giants may have a 'problem' in Kayvon Thibodeaux

The Giants’ offensive line was the glaring weak spot in Sunday’s blowout loss at the hands of the Cowboys, as Daniel Jones was sacked seven times and running for his life on nearly every dropback, but Boomer said Big Blue’s pass rush also showed another potential area of concern.

“This is another problem for the Giants. Kayvon Thibodeaux may not be what he thinks he is, or who the Giants thought he would be when they drafted him,” Boomer said.

“No sacks from the Giants last night. You want to see how you want your defensive line to play? Watch the Cowboys played last night, and how the 49ers played yesterday.”

Thibodeaux, the fifth overall pick in last year’s draft, logged one solo tackle on Sunday night, mainly a no-show in what was an all-too familiar sight for much of his rookie season. Thibodeaux showed signs of promise later in the year last season, and Sunday was a chance to show that there would be a big leap taken in year two, but Boomer and Gio didn’t see it.

“You didn’t get enough out of him last year,” Gio said. “He got better as the year went on, but he wasn’t even talked about the first half of the year. Micah Parsons made an impact right away. You knew immediately, when he put the uniform on and started playing in his rookie season, how great he was, and he’s only gotten better since then. You haven’t gotten that with Kayvon Thibodeaux.”
