Joe Schoen addressed Saquon Barkley’s uncertain future on Tuesday, and that the Giants, while preferring to take a different route, haven’t taken the franchise tag off the table.
For Boomer, he maintains that Barkley should prioritize finding a new team to play for so the star running back can finally have a chance to win.
“He may love it around here, he may love playing for the Giants,” Boomer said. “But if somebody calls, like the Chargers or Chiefs call…it’s like ‘You know what? Enough of the losing, enough of the crap, I’ll go play on a grass field if they have a grass field.’ That’s what I’d be looking for.
“I think the guy deserves to win some games.”
Gio agrees, and believes that Barkley will weigh that when pondering his future, assuming he isn’t hit with the franchise tag for a second straight offseason.
“He is one of those guys who would absolutely love to win,” Gio said.
