BT and Sal were live on the air when news broke that Daniel Jones was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jets, and head coach Brian Daboll was far less declarative about Jones being back this season as compared to previous weeks.
Given the seemingly bleaker outlook for Jones as he gets further from his neck injury, BT and Sal agree that it is impossible to not begin to have concern about the rest of his career.
“They got a massive issue on their hands here with Daniel Jones,” BT said. “This is very ominous. It’s very sad…if it’s the first injury like this to Jones, you worry about the season. Being that it’s the second, you almost have to start worrying about his career.”
Jones’ 2021 season ended due to a neck injury, and he is now missing a third straight game because of his last neck issue, which he suffered when taking a sack against the Dolphins. Jones, who just signed a four-year contract that pays him $40 million per year, suddenly doesn’t seem like a lock to return this season, and possibly beyond.
“How could you not speculate - and I’m not trying to be a doctor here - to potentially think that this might be a career-threatening issue for Daniel Jones?” Sal said.
“This neck issue, as speculated or anticipated, could be a huge deal here. It is a big deal, but the fact that he might not be able to play again, we’re already going into Week 8, and he’s already been out a couple weeks. This is a big problem.”
