Tyrod Taylor audibled on the 1-yard line at the end of the first half on Sunday night, calling for a run with the final seconds ticking off the clock and the Giants holding no timeouts.
Brian Daboll clearly wasn’t happy with Taylor, giving his quarterback an earful on their way into the locker room after Big Blue couldn’t spike the ball in time to set up a field goal.
While the decision was a maddening one by Taylor, BT didn’t like how Daboll handled things coming off the field.
“We’ve talked about Daboll’s aggressive antics in terms with how he deals with players, which you and I love,” BT said. “It’s a throwback methodology that we both embrace, but show Tyrod Taylor an ounce of respect, dude.
“I know Tyrod Taylor colossally messed up there, but I think the coach has to wear that and own that a little more. To just berate him and light him up in full public view, do it in the tunnel, Daboll. That was a bad look.”
Daboll didn’t call out Taylor after the game, while Taylor acknowledged that it was an unacceptable decision. If that was all that happened, BT would have been fine with it. But he felt the reaction towards Taylor, with the world to see, crossed the line.
