BT said before Thursday’s game that it was time for Daniel Jones to step up and lead his team to a respectable performance against one of the titans of the NFC in the 49ers.
But after watching the game, even with Jones throwing for just 137 yards with no touchdowns and one interception, BT says any blame going Jones’ way is misguided.
“Anyone dropping this on Danny Jones’ doorstep, I think you’re a fool, quite frankly,” BT said. “Jones had almost no chance to do anything. The Niners are a lot better, period. That’s it.”
Where does BT place the blame? Not on Jones and the shorthanded offense. Instead, it goes to the defense and their “shoddy” tackling.
“The tackling was soft. I don’t use that word very often. Those guys could tackle us with three fingers,” BT said. “But relative to their peers, the Giants tackling was trash.”
While BT is giving Jones the benefit of the doubt, he isn’t giving it to the Giants overall, as he still doesn’t see a path to the playoffs despite a continued belief in the coaching staff.
“They’re well-coached. They were ready to play the game,” BT said. “But it doesn’t change my opinion, because there is just a shortage of premium talent.”
