BT gives Daniel Jones a pass for Week 1, Sal saw shades of Zach Wilson

BT doesn’t believe Daniel Jones is the kind of quarterback the Giants paid him to be, but in no way is he faulting Jones for Big Blue’s 40-0 disaster on Sunday night.

That blame falls on the offensive line.

“He wasn’t put in any position to succeed,” BT said. “It’s like getting in a batter’s box down 0-2 with a pitcher-friendly ump…he’s just not gonna do well. What was Daniel Jones supposed to do?

“I know he’s not top 10. I’m not sure if he’s top 15. But last night wasn’t Daniel Jones’ fault.
It just wasn’t.”

The offensive line struggled against Micah Parsons and the Dallas pass rush all night, as Jones was sacked seven times with to time to throw in the pocket, eerily similar to his experience in the divisional round against the Eagles to end last season’s surprising playoff run.

“Snap, three guys in his mug. Every time,” BT said. “When you are sped up the way he was sped up as soon as he says ‘hike,’ you are forced into an uncomfortable speed due to the defense and the inability of the five guys in front of you to block.”

Sal, who is higher on the Giants this season, wasn’t willing to give Jones that much of a pass.

“You need to make a play,” Sal said. “Somebody make a play…when nobody else is making a play, you have to make a play. He had a wide open receiver for a first down on third down and missed him like he was Zach freaking Wilson last year.”
