BT: Recent NFL evidence shows Giants can pull off Daniel Jones trade

With the NFL Draft hours away, BT maintains that the Giants have to make it their top priority to take a quarterback with their top draft pick, and get Brian Daboll his young prospect to develop.

“They need to make it happen. They need to be proactive,” BT said. “It’s year three of this regime. You’ve got to get your quarterback in the room.”

If that is what happens for Big Blue, BT says it would be time to move on from Daniel Jones, who still has three years left on his $160 million contract. Fortunately, BT says a trade can be made, as other deals like Russell Wilson and Zach Wilson shows that it can be done, even if money or resume is a concern.

“I think there’s a way to incentivize teams…the Giants can invite somebody into the conversation and strike a deal where they eat some of the money, drop some draft equity, they obviously move on from Daniel Jones,” BT said. “I’m not saying to draft someone and keep Daniel Jones around. All due respect to Daniel Jones, but he’s not the guy moving forward…so if you know that, why would you bring in a kid into a quarterback room where it’s incredibly uncomfortable for him and for Daniel Jones.”

BT says drafting a quarterback with their first pick would mean Jones is done in New York, and there wouldn’t be a need to keep him around until the escape hatch in his contract activates after this season. Fortunately, he doesn’t believe they would have to wait.

“I’m talking about a clean break,” BT said. “Trade Daniel Jones, and if you don’t trade him [Thursday], trade him the next day. If you don’t trade him then, trade him next week.”
