C-Mac: Bad look by fans to celebrate Saquon Barkley drop when Giants are 'laughingstock'

Saquon Barkley likely cost the Eagles the game on Monday night, dropping a pass in the flat where he could have waltzed into the end zone and sealed the win had he come up with the catch.

Instead, the ball glanced off his fingertips and fell to the ground, setting the stage for Kirk Cousins to orchestrate a game-winning drive for the Falcons and stun Philly at home on Monday Night Football.

Many Giants fans celebrated the turn of events after Barkley left New York to join the hated Eagles this past offseason, but Chris McMonigle says that laughing only makes their own situation seem even worse.

“We are embarrassing ourselves laughing at Saquon Barkley!” C-Mac said. “We’re gonna laugh, we’re gonna celebrate that the former Giant dropped a pass that cost them the game? No doubt it did...as a Giant fan, I love it. But what I won’t do is point to a dropped pass by Saquon Barkley and somehow try to justify the disgusting nature of what my team has become.

“Drafting him was a mistake. Giving him a contract would have been a mistake...but let’s not make this about ‘Welcome to Philadelphia, Saquon. This is what Saquon does. He’s a losing player.’ Let’s not have revisionist history. He’s somewhere else because they couldn’t justify paying him because the roster isn’t good enough to justify paying a running back.”

Sure, Barkley’s drop cost the Eagles a win, but he is still coming off a three touchdown performance in Week 1, and Philly expects to be in the running for a playoff spot this season, while the Giants already feel irrelevant. C-Mac says fans need to remember that.

“We’re laughing at Saquon Barkley when the Giants are the laughingstock of the NFL??” C-Mac said.
