Michigan product J.J. McCarthy seemed to be a winner at the NFL Scouting Combine last week, and C-Mac says the Giants could be a player for the national champion.
“I don’t love J.J. McCarthy. I prefer Michael Penix,” C-Mac said. “But you’re hearing J.J. McCarthy just skyrocket into this top echelon. He is clearly…if you believe in the rumors and the noise, that next quarterback after that top three. He is the leader in that secondary pack.
“I think the Giants have to take a quarterback six. Whatever they do, you would think they have belief and faith in it. Maybe they are one of those teams that believe in J.J. McCarthy.”
Whether it is McCarthy or not, C-Mac says the Giants need to either trade up to get a quarterback or take one at sixth overall. He also believes Daboll wants the same.
“You gotta think Brian Daboll is absolutely pounding the table to go get a quarterback,” C-Mac said. “This is what he does best…this is what he does. He develops quarterbacks.”
