C-Mac fed up with Saquon Barkley conversation as Eagles fans chant 'Thank you Giants'

Saquon Barkley went off again for the Eagles in primetime, rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns in another divisional win for Philadelphia, and it ended with Eagles fans chanting “Thank you Giants” as Barkley talked with the Amazon postgame crew on the field.

The moment opened the door for more Giants criticism, as they have heard it from all angles as Barkley has emerged as an MVP candidate with his huge debut season in Philly, but Chris McMonigle doesn’t understand why it continues to be a talking point.

“Every time he has a good performance, especially in primetime, it leads to the Giants being mocked for letting him go,” C-Mac said.

“The fanbase embraced Saquon Barkley. They weren’t good enough to be successful. It drives me nuts. The same people complaining about Saquon Barkley being gone are the same people mocking Joe Schoen for saying the Giants are close...you’ll cry about Saquon Barkley like you’re a running back away. You’re not. He was here, and you lost with him. The Eagles have been good forever.”

Barkley was let go by the Giants, deemed not worthy of a big contract given his position and the other needs of the organization, despite ownership’s hesitancy to move on from the face of the franchise. C-Mac says Barkley having unsurprising success with a better team should not be a surprise, and should not change the fact that Joe Schoen and company did the right thing.

“This didn’t change the dynamics of the NFC East...the Giants were holding him back,” C-Mac said.

“I’m tired of having to have this conversation about Saquon Barkley.”
