C-Mac: Getting quarterback of the future is 'only sensible thing' for Giants to do with top pick

On the morning of the NFL Draft, C-Mac doubled, or more like tripled, down on the declaration that he has been hitting home for weeks.

The Giants need to take a quarterback with their top pick, even if it means trading up to get him.

“I believe the Giants are desperate to do the only thing that’s sensible and bring in their quarterback of the future,” C-Mac said. “Because of the injuries, because of the unreliability of Daniel Jones, they have to find a way…I think they wake up [Thursday] with the desire to get their quarterback.”

Many fans are skeptical about giving up coveted assets to move up and take a quarterback like JJ McCarthy or Drake Maye, who are far from sure things as hopeful franchise quarterbacks. But C-Mac notes that other positions have even more parity in the draft when it comes to hits and misses, so why not take a shot at the biggest position of need?

“You have seen more unsuccessful first-round picks at wide receiver than any other position in the sport,” C-Mac said. “We talk about the quarterback position as a complete crapshoot…and then we talk about the other picks that the Giants could make as if they’re guarantees. They are not guarantees…especially if that wide receiver is getting thrown the ball by Drew Lock in Week 3 because Daniel Jones is hurt again.”
