The Giants always speak highly of Daniel Jones and his makeup, but C-Mac says the front office can’t take that into account when evaluating their future at the quarterback position.
The reality is, Jones may be a respected player, but he can’t be relied upon on the field.
“You can’t allow respect for a player to cloud your judgement. You just can’t,” C-Mac said. “You have to go out and get a franchise quarterback. [Jones] is injury prone.
“The issue isn’t necessarily that he was awful last year, which he was. The main issue is that he isn’t able to stay on the field…you’re talking about having neck issues two of the last three years, and he blew out his knee.”
C-Mac has long advocated for Big Blue to trade up and take a quarterback in this year’s draft, and he isn’t about to let admiration for Jones get in the way of what is best for the franchise.
“The Giants have to look past Daniel Jones and their affinity and respect for him, and the slight glimpse of his tools,” C-Mac said. “They’re there, but they aren’t good enough to elevate the team. And now he’s injury prone.
“If I’m Joe Schoen, the last thing I’m focused on is a path moving forward with Daniel Jones.”
