C-Mac loves the story of Tommy DeVito, but each game that the New Jersey native wins for the Giants, C-Mac says further cements Daniel Jones as next year’s starting quarterback.
“The story of DeVito is great,” C-Mac said. “He’s a local kid, I love the hand gesture celebration, I love seeing his family at the game. I love the story…but here’s the problem with the Tommy DeVito story: it’s not about Tommy DeVito…they scored 10 points against the Patriots, off of turnovers. Let’s be honest. DeVito is playing and winning games to keep Daniel Jones the quarterback. This is not about DeVito.”
C-Mac is over the Daniel Jones experiment, and wanted Big Blue to get a high draft pick to allow Brian Daboll to draft his own quarterback and turn the page for the franchise. But DeVito winning games only takes the Giants further away from a draft slot that would allow them to take one of the top quarterbacks, which puts a damper on DeVito’s feel-good story.
“He’s a great story,” C-Mac said. “He made a couple nice throws. But watching him and seeing what he does isn’t about him once you get past the novelty about it. It’s about who will be the contract moving forward.
“The further you get away from one of the top quarterbacks in the draft…the more likely it is that Daniel Jones is still the quarterback of this team, considering his contract.”
