The Giants will be without Saquon Barkley for three weeks, but C-Mac believes Big Blue will be just fine without him.
“I don’t want to say Barkley isn’t important. He’s very important to this team,” C-Mac said. “He’s arguably their most talented player. He was one of their most important players last season.
“Ultimately, the position just takes a beating, and Saquon hasn’t been above that. We saw when they needed to lean on Saquon last year. When you go into a game with Saquon being the guy you need, and the emphasis of the offense, the Giants are limited…the offense became a slog.”
Last season, the Giants may have been too reliant on Barkley, who returned to being a 1,000-yard rusher as Big Blue made a surprising run to the divisional round. But C-Mac sees a different Giants offense that wisely became less reliant on the run game by adding more receiving options via trade and the draft.
“To me, Saquon Barkley is an important piece, but not someone I look at and say ‘Oh no, the Giants are screwed without Saquon Barkley,’” C-Mac said. “That’s why this team went out and got all these weapons and paid the quarterback $40 million…and we saw it on Sunday. When this team is at its best, it is working through the quarterback.
“This injury doesn’t make me feel any different for the next handful of games without him…I know Daniel Jones needs to be the focal point.”
