C-Mac not buying Giants' Joe Alt report, says it is placating Daniel Jones

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Giants had targeted star offensive lineman Joe Alt in the NFL Draft, even considering trying to trade up to get the Notre Dame product in the first round.

C-Mac doesn’t buy the report for a second, and believes it could have simply been a way for the Giants to calm any potential concerns of Daniel Jones, to try and assure their quarterback that they weren’t trying to move up and take his replacement.

“Yes, probably the Giants are lying,” C-Mac said. “It reeks of trying to placate the current quarterback, and make him feel better about the idea of them doing everything they can to move up and take a quarterback.”

C-Mac doesn’t believe Jones would need any kind of reassurance, given how the draft wound up playing out.

“They drafted a wide receiver to help him, and did nothing to challenge him in any way,” C-Mac said. “But the idea that they had any other interest in any other player to trade up and move to three for is ridiculous. They were trying to move up to secure their quarterback of the future, and they couldn’t get it done.”
