C-Mac rejoices in Daniel Jones era finally coming to an end: 'Needed to happen'
Chris McMonigle has been clamoring for Daniel Jones to be benched for months, and on Monday, the news was finally confirmed by Brian Daboll.
It felt like a massive wave of relief came over C-Mac.
“Today is the day we’ve been waiting for!” C-Mac said. “I don’t want to make it seem like I’m celebrating the end of Daniel Jones. I respect Daniel Jones. He works his ass off, he’s a tough son of a gun…and he was not given a good situation.
“It’s one of those never-forget-where-you-were moments…I needed it to happen. We all needed it to happen.”
Sure, there are plenty of other reasons beyond Jones for why the Giants have been so bad the past two years, but Jones certainly wasn’t helping things, nor was the constant questions of what they will do at the quarterback position moving forward. Now, C-Mac says the focus can be purely on losing the rest of the way to get a top draft pick and bring in Jones’ replacement, and the next hopeful franchise savior.
“I am happy that we are done with this,” C-Mac said. “It is not a celebration, it is a relief that we are done with this conversation and relieved that we are done wondering what we’re gonna get from Daniel Jones on a weekly basis.”
