As the Giants prepare for a pivotal game with the Seahawks on Monday night, C-Mac wonders when Daniel Jones will actually get some criticism for the team’s struggles to open the season.
“Let’s make sure we don’t give Daniel Jones an ounce of criticism or blame,” C-Mac said sarcastically. “It’s never Daniel Jones. I’m not even blaming him for the game, but the second the game is over, we all run to make sure we all get it straight that it wasn’t Daniel Jones’ fault.
“The playmakers never make a play! This one didn’t make a tackle! It’s never that Daniel Jones missed the target.”
Jones has heard his share of criticisms since being taken sixth overall, but he has also been given the benefit of the doubt due to a lack of weapons around him and a revolving door of new coaches and offensive schemes. But now, in year two under a more stable regime, and fresh off a big four-year contract, the shielding of criticism needs to stop.
“Daniel Jones put the team on his back a week ago. There are good days and bad days,” C-Mac said. “He wasn’t good against the Cowboys…he wasn’t able to do much, but when he was, he wasn’t very good. He wasn’t very good against the 49ers.
“As much as we love Brian Daboll, we’ll throw him under there before we throw Daniel Jones under the bus…it’s not his fault.”
