You heard Craig Carton say it on Friday’s Carton & Roberts Show: the Giants needed to defeat Philadelphia on Sunday to “Save Thanksgiving.” With the Giants’ bye next week, this is their last game before Turkey Day, so it’s important to go into the meal on a high note.

So important, this mission was to Craig, that Carton’s Twitter feed was almost a Thanksgiving-themed live blog of sorts…and you know we are ALL over that.

PREGAME: The mission is still a go!

1:37 P.M.: The Giants take a quick 7-0 lead as Danny Dimes finishes an 80-yard opening drive with a 38-yard touchdown run…and the side dishes are starting to pile up.

2:32 P.M.: A 14-3 Giants lead and a big stop on the Birds has Craiggy getting more and more of what goes with the bird getting cooked.

HALFTIME: The Giants took a 14-3 lead into the break…halfway home.

3:12 P.M.: The Eagles score to make it 21-16 late in the third, but their decision to go for two makes Craiggy extremely happy.

3:35 P.M.: As play continues in MetLife Stadium, Craiggy took a break to salute someone else saving something for New York football: the No. 1 pick for the Jets.

4:01 P.M.: Philadelphia turns it over on downs, and the Giants’ 27-17 lead at the two-minute warning seems insurmountable…like, say, eating dessert after a big meal.

And in the end, with a 27-17 win over Philly…the Giants save Thanksgiving!

Jacksonville may have fallen to Green Bay to keep the competition for the No. 1 pick going, but hey, can't win 'em all (or any, if you're the Jets)!
