Eli Apple has drawn the ire of many across the NFL world for his trash talk, most notably when he was ripped for seemingly mocking Damar Hamlin’s widely used emoji when he was recovering in the hospital after a frightening scene on the field during Monday Night Football.
Apple later insisted that his tweet was in no way meant to disrespect Hamlin, but his general trash talk has been a mainstay, as he went at Chiefs receivers after last year’s win in the AFC title game. So after Apple and the Bengals lost on Sunday night, the Chiefs were ready.
So much so that Apple’s mother, Annie, deleted her Twitter account.
The “Cancun on 3” tweets came from Patrick Mahomes’ wife and Kansas City safety Juan Thornhill, who also filmed himself and teammates smoking cigars in the locker room after the victory, in which he had a message for Apple.
“Eli Apple,” Thornhill said. “Imma smoke one for you!”
It was a tough night on Twitter for Apple, who wasn’t much help on the field for the Bengals on Sunday night.
