Evan and Tiki on 'weird' Daniel Jones situation: 'They told the world…they want to replace him'
After Daniel Jones’ preseason debut got off to a brutal start in the form of two interceptions (and one throw that should have made it three), Evan and Tiki discussed the strange reality that is Jones’ 2024 campaign.
“The Giants told the world in the offseason that they want to replace him. They told everybody!” Evan said. “I think he should play, but they’ve already told you that if he gets hurt, he’s getting replaced. If he plays crappy, he’s getting replaced. If he plays well, he’s probably still getting replaced. They told us during the offseason, ‘We like Daniel Jones, but we like other people better.’ That’s a weird predicament to be in during an NFL season...No matter what he does, he’s going to be replaced.”
Tiki has advocated for Jones and his potential, but even he had to admit that performance from Jones on Saturday, even if it was his first game action since ACL surgery, shows why the Giants are in this spot where they are potentially already planning on him to be replaced.
“I love Daniel Jones as a person and what he potentially can be,” Tiki said. “He gets hard to root for when he plays like that. It makes you understand why the Giants have this ‘we need to kind of think about replacing him’ in their minds.
“It made you understand why the Giants are looking somewhere else.”
