Evan: Drew Lock possibility makes it even more necessary for Giants to get Justin Fields

Drew Lock told reporters at his introductory press conference on Friday that the starting quarterback spot belongs to Daniel Jones, but Evan is still worried that Lock could get starts in 2024 if Jones is hurt, not ready to start the season, or if a rookie they draft isn’t ready for the NFL.

“We may be forced to watch Drew Lock play quarterback a lot next year. That makes me sick,” Evan said. “You do not want to have a season next year in which we are watching Drew Lock play quarterback. It cannot be an option. Don’t tell me how young he is, how big he is, or how he played on a random Monday night.

“Drew Lock being the starting quarterback for the Giants, unless there is an emergency, should not, and cannot happen in 2024.”

But Evan has a solution, and it is one he has been preaching for weeks. He says the Giants should go swing a trade for Justin Fields, now more than ever considering Fields still hasn’t been traded, and can probably be acquired for even cheaper now.

“Tell me what I’m missing. Drew Lock? Stop it. J.J. McCarthy? Give me a break,” Evan said. “The answer at quarterback to fight with Daniel Jones was the same answer I gave you a few weeks ago, and now, it makes even more sense. It’s Justin Fields. What am I missing?”
