Evan: Giants are 'emerging threat' that can 'go on a run'

It wasn’t pretty, especially in the second half, but the Giants came away with the win they desperately needed, taking down the lowly Commanders to temporarily save their season.

Big Blue is still just 2-5 on the season, but after the win over Washington coming on the heels of a near-shocking victory over the Bills a week ago, Evan says the Giants are starting to show the makeup of a team that can go on a run.

“Here’s why I look at the Giants as an emerging threat, as a team that can go on a run: they have but together back to back, really impressive, defensive performances,” Evan said. “Their defense is keeping them in games and giving them a shot to win. With Wink Martindale coming off the year he had last year, and the talent this team has on defense, I look at this team as far different than two weeks ago, when they were lifeless and getting their asses kicked and couldn’t make a tackle.”

Evan noted that Saquon Barkley cannot fumble in the red zone, and the punt return needs to be cleaned up, but the defense is showing signs of promise, enough so that fans should at least feel “halfway decent” about the team moving forward following Sunday’s win, and heading into a matchup with Evan’s Jets in Week 8.

“All of a sudden, they are creating an identity,” Evan said. “That is why I view the Giants as a team that, all of a sudden, has a season.”
