The Giants named Tommy DeVito their starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, and Evan says that presents a win/win situation for Big Blue.
DeVito showed next to nothing against the Jets after Tyrod Taylor went down with a ribs injury, and Evan says if that continues, it will but the Giants in position to draft a top quarterback prospect. If DeVito surprises, then maybe New York found the incredibly rare diamond in the rough.
“I’m riding Tommy DeVito the rest of the season,” Evan said. “That includes Tyrod Taylor and Matt Barkley.
“As crazy as what you just said may seem, ‘Maye he’s our Tony Romo or Tom Brady,’ I do look at young players and say, ‘I have to at least find out.’ Why not? If you’re better off losing, and he’s bad, then you get the benefit of losing games. If he plays well, maybe he actually proves to you something stunning.”
