Evan makes the case for Aaron Rodgers playing quarterback for Giants next season

Evan Roberts opened Wednesday’s show by observing that sometimes in sports talk, you hear an opinion so seemingly outlandish that you scoff at it, only to suddenly realize its validity after giving it some thought.

Evan’s opening declaration falls under that category, but it is one he believes heading into the New York football offseason.

“Aaron Rodgers should be the quarterback of the New York Football Giants,” Evan said.

After Tiki Barber predictably scoffed at the idea of Rodgers switching MetLife Stadium tenants heading into his age 41 season, Evan made his case, noting that Giants ownership wants to see results next season, and Rodgers can help with that while mentoring whoever Big Blue takes at quarterback with its top draft pick.

“John Mara told us on Monday that they better win next year,” Evan said. “That’s what he told us.

“It gives you the chance to get the best of both worlds...Aaron Rodgers gives you the best chance to win while you’re developing your young quarterback and having him sit.”

In addition to that, Evan doesn’t believe Rodgers would have his pick of the litter in terms of where he can play next season, and believes it’s likely the Jets move on, so why not switch teams where there is no move or life change involved at all?

“Aaron Rodgers has glowingly talked about his time with the New York Jets...he likes it here,” Evan said. “For all the crap the states of New Jersey and New York get, he likes it here...if they move on from him, I think he would look at not selling his house and moving.”

Tiki didn’t like the idea, but Morash jumped at the hypothetical before Evan could barely finish his pitch.

“I’m basing this solely off what I heard from my owner John Mara, and what he said was his patience was wearing thin,” Morash said. “He also said he wants this team to identify a quarterback of the future...why can’t I have both? I still think the Giants should identify a quarterback in this draft, and I don’t think they should just hand him the job...I actually think the best veteran choice for the Giants is Aaron Rodgers.”
