Evan says Eagles fans not what they used to be: 'The boogeyman doesn't exist anymore'

As the Giants get set to head to Philadelphia on Saturday, there is plenty of talk about the rowdy Eagles fans, and the hostile environment they will create at Lincoln Financial Field.

But Evan Roberts is not among those talking up the playoff atmosphere. In fact, he doesn’t think The Linc is nearly as intimidating as it used to be.

“When you get to these bigger games, you have these celebrities that want to be at an event…you guys talk up The Linc like it’s gonna be so intimidating…but for the most part, it’s gonna be the hoity-toity, ‘I need to be in the place to be,’ those are the people that are filling up a lot of that stadium,” Evan said.

“The lower bowl is filled with a lot of rich, this-is-the-place-to-be celebrities. You guys can deny it all you want. “

Craig wasn’t buying it, but Evan is convinced. Sure, it will be loud on Saturday night, but the energy in the stands will be nothing like it used to be, and it hasn’t been that way for a long time.

‘Fenway today is not the Fenway of 15 years ago…so let’s start there,” Evan said. “A lot of these sports venues, because of how high-priced they are, and how famous the franchise has gone to another level since winning titles, the clientele is not the same as you remember from 1990. That’s a reality.

“Just because you see a couple viral videos of schmucks climbing up flag poles and gluing their tongue to it, doesn’t mean that’s 80,000 people at Lincoln Financial Field. It’s not the reality anymore. You guys are afraid of the boogeyman. The boogeyman doesn’t exist anymore…it ain’t the same clientele anymore.”
