Gio: Final four games could determine Saquon Barkley's Giants future

Saquon Barkley has rushed for just 152 yards in his last four games, after rushing for that exact amount the game before that stretch in a win over the lowly Texans.

The Giants are 0-3-1 in that span of Barkley producing far less than he was earlier in the year, when many believed they were seeing the return of peak Barkley, finally fully healthy after his ACL tear in 2020.

Now, Gio says the final games of this season will likely determine Barkley’s future with the franchise.

“He was a lot of talk in the beginning of the year, proving the critics wrong, ‘I’m back,’ and he got off to this tremendous start,” Gio said. “But he has been a non-factor for the last month.

“How does Saquon Barkley play the rest of the way? It could determine his future.”

Barkley told reporters on Thursday that he feels “a lot better” than last week, when he was battling a neck injury, but even if he comes back healthy and has a strong finish to the season, Boomer would be wary of giving the running back big money.

“You have to be really, really careful of giving him a big, long-term contract,” Boomer said. “And I really like Saquon. It just doesn’t make any sense in today’s day and age.”
